January Scrap Sale

January is a traditional time for sales and this year we’ve got a record number of fabrics on our post Christmas sale rail, ranging from festive prints to fabulous funky designs, all at just £8.00 a metre. But now we’ve also decided to have a bit of a clear out and we’re selling off a huge range of our contemporary prints in a week long scrap sale!

Given how much sewing gets done in the shop, it should come as no surprise that we have a vast stack of off cuts and scrap pieces from some of our loveliest prints, just sitting in a basket and waiting to be used at some point. So instead of making a million pencil cases we’ve decided to give you, our favourite fabric buying members of public, the chance to get your hands on some seriously good bargains.

Now some of you maybe thinking of scraps as tiny, fiddly bits of fabric that you can’t do much with, but this is very much not the case; the average size of the scraps in our Scrap Sale are around 25/30cm square meaning you can make very good use of these pieces for small projects like purses, makeup bags, toys, dolls’ blankets and hanging decorations. Patchworkers will also be able to make good use of these for hexies, quilts, and making up larger pieces for bags and various other projects.

All the large pieces in the sale are 10 for £5.00, and for those that are interested in the smaller scraps, they are 10 for £1.00 just for this week. Sale fabrics off the bolt are £8.00 per metre, and sale fat quarters are £2.00 each.

The Scrap Sale takes place from 10am Saturday 14th January to 5pm Saturday 21st January 2017.

New Year Sale!

Happy New Year to all our customer and welcome to 2016! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a well deserved break, with lots of eating, drinking and general merriment. We were closed for a whole week and a half, which was very lovely, but now we’re back and itching to get on with our new year projects. There’s a whole host of exciting classes scheduled between now and March for you to get stuck into, and we’ve got plenty of exciting things planned for the shop too. So all in all, we’re hoping that 2016 brings all of us lots of inspiring and exciting sewing projects.

And for those of you on the hunt for a bargain or two, we have loads of unusual and interesting prints in our January sale at £8.00, and all of our Christmas fabric is currently £6.50 a metre – so if you like planning ahead, now is the time to get inspired for the next festive season, or just add to your stash while the going is good!

Take a look at our sale collection and see what you can make from these reduced babies!

And here’s all the Christmas stock, in case last month is too long ago to remember what we’ve got …

All sale fabrics are on sale at their reduced prices from now until Saturday 30th January 2016.

Sale Fabrics at Emporia!

As we roll gently into autumn on a wave of success following the fantastic Pluckley Quilt and Craft Show (Did you go? Weren’t the exhibits simply stunning?) we are now bringing you the delights of our mini sale. So if you fancy recreating some of the intricate designs which were on show at the Pluckley Village Hall or you simply want to replenish your stash, pop in a take a look at these reduced lovelies.

Marking the return of the fabulous Downton Abbey to our screens, we’ve decided to put our entire Downton collection into the sale. Yes, that’s right Lords and Ladies, if you wish to emulate the well to do folk of the Grantham estate, you can now do so at a mark down price! Despite Lord Grantham’s thorough disapproval or all things modern, we love these contemporary takes on vintage styles and colours.

Blues, greens and purples make for Liberty-esque patterns in a 1920s style, while the floral designs in orange and turquoise, and pinks and cream feel more turn of the century. We tend to call these the grownup fabrics in the shop, and they are all quite sophisticated. If you fancy making yourself some grownup dresses, skirts, blouses or accessories, then get in quick as there won’t be much left on the bolt for too long!

Moving away from the grownup end of the scale to the decidedly more funky and fun, these Riley Blake patterns are definitely not going to get you a seat at dinner with the Crawleys. So bright they are almost luminous, the cassette tapes are spot on for anyone with a hankering after old school mix tapes, while the vinyl records are even more vintage style, in a funked up DJ kind of way.

Or if you have a thing for facial hair, either on fabric or on men, then grab some of this pink and grey moustache print before it goes. Big floral prints in seriously bright pink and green with turquoise are the absolute opposite of the Downton collection, so think what kind of a statement you could make with these large scale patterns.

All these fabrics have been seriously good sellers over the summer, but now that autumn is here it’s time to make room for more fabrics on our shelves. All sale fabrics are now on priced at £10.00 per metre.

Breaking news – two more dates  have been added to the Beginners Knitting classes, so if you missed out on the October dates, you can now look at learning to knit on Saturday 1st and 22nd November 2014. See the Classes page for more information.
