Those of you who follow us on Facebook will have received the joyous news yesterday that the long awaited Star Wars fabric has finally arrived in the shop! Gracing our shelves are several big fat bolts of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker themed fantasticness, covered with all kinds of space craft and characters from the iconic films. And as Star Wars obsessives range in age from the very brand new to properly grown up, whether they are sewers or not, just as Obi Wan Kenobi predicted, there will be a disturbance in the force if they don’t get down to Bank Street and into the shop to check out the new designs.
If you are one such obsessive, then fear not – you can be sure that when you arrive at your destination, you will instinctively know which fabrics to choose, without any hint of being drawn over to the Dark Side (choosing all of them). From curtains, quilts, cushions, pencils cases, bags, lampshade and phone covers to shirts, shorts, skirts and headbands, with this little lot you could quite easily transform your entire life (or someone else’s) into one big Star Wars themed bonanza.
The force is definitely strong with this one: bold, black, white and grey scale illustrations of Darth Vader and Bobba Fett, accompanied by some gun-toting Stormtroopers. Great for those old enough to remember the original films hitting the cinema – Father’s Day is coming up soon, so get thinking what you could make with this to please your old man or your other half.
Dum dum dum, dum de dum, dum de dum – that iconic font spelling out the equally iconic title of the film series would make a perfect filler for Star Wars themed quilts or as a backing for one. All go the whole hog and dress the windows with these blue and black patterns that will let everyone know you are a one of the rebels as soon as they enter the room.
Know someone who obsesses over which space craft is which? This blocked out design features X-Wings, the Millennium Falcon, Tie Fighters and all kinds of other ships, alongside the Star Wars logo, making it an ideal one to use in a quilt. Or even a cheaty quilt where you just sew down the lines. Blue, grey, red and black colours make this a good choice for older kids and teenagers too.
And lastly my personal favourite, that classic seventies style comic book strip of all the characters, including a lovely big close up of Chewbacca. Bright, colourful and full of detail, we can see this one just walking off the shelves and into smaller people’s bedrooms and wardrobes.
All these Star Wars prints are now available from Emporia Fabric & Crafts, at £14.00 a metre.
