Ginger Jeans Workshop with Charlotte Newland – £325.00
Join the winner of the Great British Sewing Bee 2016 as she shows you how to make these popular jeans from Closet Case patterns. The class takes place over a three day weekend which will involve making a full toile and appropriate adjustments on the first day, with two more days to cut and construct your jeans, topstitch your back pockets and add the rivets.

Due to the higher cost of the class, there is a payment plan in place to help with budgeting. To secure your place, a non-refundable deposit of £100.00 must be made, with following payments of £50.00 a time, with the final payment of £25.00 being made before 31st January 2020. Cancellations with less than 4 weeks notice will not be refunded. The price includes all fabric and materials, plus the pattern.

Clare Coat with The Thrifty Stitcher – £225.00
Claire-Louise Hardy is the brains and sewing skill behind series 1 to 4 of the Great British Sewing Bee and has published sewing books as well as having some of her work featured at the V&A. She joins us to teach a workshop over two days where you will make a fully lined coat, altering it to fit your own frame perfectly. Choose from a range of lovely warm fabrics to create a beautiful garment that will keep you toasty through the winter.

Beginner’s Sewing Session – £45.00
Have you been inspired by the likes of the Great British Sewing Bee and want to get cracking with your first ever makes? Maybe you haven’t touched a machine in years, but you are keen to get back in the sewing saddle. If so, this is the class for you. Bring along your machine or use one of ours and you can learn to insert a zip, make a pencil case or makeup bag, and a cushion cover.

Open Sewing Session – £65.00/£85.00
Join Clair for the chance to sew any of our Emporia patterns in this open sewing session. Choose from either our kids or adult patterns and take home the finished garment on the day. Take a look at the options below:

A-line Skirt – Make either a midi or ankle length a-line skirt, perfect for all year round wear – it features cutaway pockets and darts at the rear waist. Suitable for beginners. £85.00

Amelie Dress – An adorable little girls dress that features either the three quarter length sleeve or a more summery sleeveless version. Suitable for beginners. £65.00

Bella Dress – A mini version of the adult Cassie dress, this dress can be made either with a t-shirt top or with tie-straps as a sundress. Suitable for beginners. £65.00

Cassie Dress – A summer dress that can be made with either a two tier knee-length skirt or a full length three tier for a maxi, this dress matches the Bella sundress in a Mummy and Me style. Suitable for beginners. £85.00

Issey Culottes – Featuring super wide Japanese style legs, plus a fold down waistband with collar detail at the back, the culottes can be made up in next to no time. Suitable for beginners. £85.00

Iris Top – A simple top pattern that comes with two sleeve options – either a three-quarter length sleeve with a ruffle or a flutter style – and a split hem at the waist. Suitable for improvers. £85.00

Kimono Dress – A minimal dress that is easy to sew and wear – pulled in at the waist for a perfect fit by an attached belt, the Kimono dress also features in seam pockets. Suitable for beginners. £85.00

Lotta Dress – This dress features a fitted bodice, with several darts, a V-neckline, cap sleeves and a full gathered skirt, with in-seam pockets; it can also be made as a sleeveless version. Suitable for improvers. £85.00


Reversible Dress – This is a very simple dress perfect for complete beginners or those that want to try their hand at kids’ clothing. £65.00

Reversible Shorts – A pair of reversible shorts for kids aged 2 – 7, the pattern includes in-seam pockets. Suitable for beginners or more experienced sewers. £65.00


Simple Gathered Skirt – A great introduction to sewing a garment based on your own measurements. The gathered skirt is based directly on your own body and features a flat waistband and a zip. Suitable for beginners. £85.00

Beginner’s Overlocker Class – £45.00
Melissa joins us once again to show newbie overlocker fans how to get to grips with this different style of sewing. Tackle sewing with jersey and see how sewing with a stretch material is different from ordinary cotton; learn how to thread the machine, deal with tension issues and see all the different stitches before you learn to make an adult’s t-shirt or some kid’s harem trousers.

Log Cabin

Beginner’s Patchwork – £75.00
This one off introduction to patchwork is run by renowned patchwork designer Mandy Munroe, and involves learning basic patchwork techniques including colour choice, rotary cutting and sewing blocks using modern methods. On the day you will sew four blocks and gain enough skill in order to continue sewing squares and triangles at home so you can finish off your quilt under your own steam.

Sew and Slash Patchwork – £75.00
Another one off patchwork course with Many Munroe allows you to create a slightly different looking quilt using the same basic techniques. Suitable for beginners, the class allows you time to choose fabrics and create your first block with Mandy, before you finish off the rest at home.

Kasbah Star Patchwork – £75.00
A fun, colourful and effective technique for a large cushion or full on quilt! Make a bold and bright statement with just two fabrics or play with the rainbow. Suitable for beginners who have mastered the ¼” seam and improver patchworkers.

Quilting and Binding with Mandy Munroe – £50.00
Learn the enjoyable art of quilting with expert crafter Mandy Munroe as she shows you the basics in this new session. Bring along your own small project to quilt at the workshop, and learn how to bind off your edges in a traditional fashion too.

Abstract Free Form Cutting – £75.00
Cutting without a ruler to create bold, modern, abstract waves and shapes. Break out of the block! You’ll learn to cut and sew gentle curves creating positive/negative strips. Ideal for intermediates and improvers wanting to try a new style of piecing. This academy workshop was a sell out at Festival of Quilts three years running!

Log Cabin Patchwork – £75.00
Mandy Munroe returns for this classic patchwork class that teaches you how to create a simple but effective log cabin technique. Using the building blocks of traditional quilting techniques, this is a great class for those wanting to expand their patchworking skills.

  7. Hi, just wondering how much a class is to make the a-lined skirt or pillow cover? I can only see kids prices! Thank you 🙂

    • Hi Robyn, the cushion cover is part of the kid’s classes programme we have for the summer – we are just about to relaunch the normal programme of classes complete with prices, which will include the A-line skirt. Keep an eye on the blog for more details!

    • Hi Kristi, please can you let us know which date class you would like to attend and we’ll check if there is space for you and your friend. Once you’ve done that, you’ll both need to pop into the shop and pay a 50% deposit to secure your spaces.
