Christmas 2015 is nearly upon us – presents have (mostly) been bought, gifts have been lovingly created, the trees are up and the lights are making everything feel festive, Christmas songs are on the radio and it’s the last day of school before the kids are released and the holiday starts to feel more like a holiday. So what better way to spend those frantic last few days before the Big Day itself than by contemplating which lovely, calm and soothing workshops you can undertake in the new year!
We’ve got a whole host of classes, new and old, which will inspire your creativity and keep you sewing well into 2016 – take a look at the list of highlights below or click on the Classes page to scruntenise the whole shebang. And there.s still time to add in a few more sessions, so if there’s something you’d really like to see on our schedule, do get in touch and let us know – we might be able to make your crafty wishes come true!
So many people have asked for the patterns to Clair’s gorgeous little girl’s dresses that we’re introducing both the Reversible Dress and the Amelie Dress as workshops this year. The reversible dress is suitable for beginner’s due to it’s very simple but effective design, while the Amelie dress might be best for those with a little experience. However, both can be made from any of our beautiful and funky fabrics to create something special for a very lucky little girl. The classes cost £45.00 per person and take place on Wednesday 20th January (reversible) and Saturday 12th March (Amelie).
Renowned patchwork designer Mandy is back at Emporia for a whole host of different classes in 2016, from beginners (16th January) through to more advanced sessions later on. Give yourself the chance to learn new skills with the intermediate session on Free Form Cutting (9th March), or try out a variety of applique techniques, both free hand and on the machine in a bunting workshop (23rd January). There’s also the traditional Log Cabin class (17th February) and the contemporary Sew and Slash class (12th March), and a chance to make a very trendy slouchy patchwork bag (27th March). All Mandy’s classes cost £60.00 per person – for more details on dates and times, take a look at the Classes page.
Melissa of Aye Aye clothing is also coming back for the beginning of 2016 with two Circle Skirt classes on Saturday 30th January and Saturday 12th March, so you can make yourself a super swishy retro style skirt. And if you’d like to learn the basics of various sewing techniques then her Beginners Sessions will see you get to grips with the likes of zip insertion, buttons holes and other tricks on Saturday 13th February.
